About / Biography

Annasach has been playing for ceilidhs, parties, birthdays, folk festivals and weddings since 1990 throughout Scotland, the UK and in Germany, Portugal, Switzerland, France, and the Netherlands to name but a few! We have a solid reputation, providing an energetic vibrant sound to entertain your guests.

The sound of the band has a more folk based slant rather than traditional ceilidh with the current line-up being fiddle, keyboard and bass. This provides an energetic, vibrant sounding front line mixed with a forceful, funky piano and bass back line. We have a dedicated dance caller, Tricia (probably the most important member of the band!), who has years of experience and is guaranteed to calm any nerves and make sure that everyone enjoys themselves.

Annasach are not an agency so what you see is what you get! You are dealing with the musicians directly and we know how important the music is to your event for generating the perfect atmosphere.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

2 power sockets would be useful
3 chairs
everything else we will provide ourselves!

If a PA is to be provided we can supply a full technical list to the sound engineer.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes, Annasach have their own PA system and lights which all have a valid PAT certificate.

What information do you require about a venue?

Contact details of the person managing your booking would be helpful so that we can confirm the best way into the venue.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, you are also more than welcome to provide an iPod / phone which we can connect to our PA.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Annasach will arrive at your chosen venue one hour before the agreed playing time to set up. It usually takes us 45 minutes but sometimes it can be a long way from the door to the stage! If your event is running late, please take into account that we will still require this time to ensure that everything is set-up perfectly. You can request that we set up earlier but there may be an additional cost.

Annasach will be able to provide you with a tailored quote for your event. We have a set rate for a ceilidh up to three or four hours long and finishing by midnight. There is an additional charge if you would like us to play for longer than four hours or beyond midnight. For an exact quote, please contact us.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Annasach are happy to perform outside as log as electricity is available. We would also recommend a dance floor as dancing on grass or concrete is not comfortable for your guests.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Annasach will be happy to play any favourite dance you have but usually we tailor our set to your guests abilities.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

We have previously been described as "unforgettable" and "professional".

Do you explain the dances?

Yes! Our dance caller, Tricia, (who is probably the most important member of the band!) has years of experience and is guaranteed to calm any nerves and make sure that everyone enjoys themselves. If she can tame Ainsley Harriot then she can do anything!

Can we see the band live before we book?

Yes! We regularly play public ceilidhs in Edinburgh and Glasgow so take a look at our Events page or our Facebook page for our next ceilidh. If the date isn't convenient then let us know as we can usually make arrangements for you to hear us at a private event.
