Biography

HotScotch Ceilidh Band offer a vibrant blend of traditional and contemporary Scottish dance music for wedding reception entertainment, highland balls, corporate functions and many other events. An exciting mix of accordion, fiddle, and drums will provide just the right atmosphere for a cracking night!

The band caters for all audiences and can include a Disco & Lighting package to compliment the Ceilidh.

Based in Edinburgh, they travel all over Scotland and the North of England as well as performing regularly overseas. Their lively style of playing and rapport with the audience will have the dancers up on the floor all evening. All of the ceilidh dances can be called by the band to ensure all can join in whatever their experience.

All of the band members are outstanding musicians in their own right and have played at events all over the world.

Paul Chamberlain - Accordion
Paul is an accomplished player and has won many competitions with his playing in both classical and Scottish music styles. He has made appearances at music festivals around Europe and also performed on live television in Russia and Finland. He is an active composer and his arrangements and lively style of playing bring a fresh feel to the music.

Vicky Gray - Fiddle
Vicky is part of the long tradition of fiddle players from Shetland. She was a member of Shetlands Young Heritage, the fiddle group originally brought together by the late Dr Tom Anderson. This brought her lots of opportunities, most notably working alongside the Calgary Fiddlers in Canada, and New Zealand. She teaches singing, and fiddle for Perth and Kinross Council, the Adult Education Programme and Edinburgh Council, and has performed Scottish fiddle music at concerts and festivals across the world.

Jim Walker - Drums
Jim was born in Saskatoon, Canada and came to Scotland in 1984. His skills as a player and teacher of pipe band drumming, percussion and kit drumming have long been recognised and he adds an inventive and powerful rhythmic structure to the band. For several years, he toured with Ceolbeg and has also played with Ally Bain and Phil Cunningham and Sandy Brechin.
