The Flying Toads are an exciting multi-instrumental band playing inventive arrangements of Irish music that “sparkle with the energy of an early Planxty" (Pete Fyfe, Maverick Magazine 2010). Their extensive repertoire ranges from lively jigs and reels to high-energy songs and haunting ballads. Their name came about as a spoonerism of the Irish hornpipe "The Flowing Tide".

• “Playing and singing of the finest order” (Oz Hardwick, Rock ‘n’ Reel 2011)

With their range of instruments they can provide the music for a wide range of occasions. The Flying Toads play for weddings, ceilidhs/barn dances, festivals, concerts, parties - in fact any occasion where good Irish music is required.

• “This is a band of well talented Irish musicians purveying high-quality music for all occasions” (David Kidman, Folk and Roots 2010)

The Flying Toads have more than 20 years experience of playing Irish dance music and song for weddings and take pride in tailoring our performance to suit your special occasion. Ceilidhs or barn dances are always a memorable event. As people of all ages take part, it is often much more enjoyable for a wedding reception than is a disco! We work with excellent dance callers, who bring a large portfolio of dances suitable for both beginners and experts alike. Likewise we are happy to provide background music, or a concert set, or any combination.

  • Traditional tunes for dancing and listening.
