Nathaniel Keen grew up in a musical family and has been performing and composing from a very young age. He is a natural, instinctive musician whose playing is sensitive and lyrical yet energetic and darn right funky when it wants it to be! His wide ranging influences include Herbie Hancock, Fela Kuti, The Meters, Weather Report and Old Blues.

Over the last four years Nathaniel has been a core member of Soundspecies, a jazz/hip-hop collective with a album on BurntProgress Records. He has also played a vital role in the creation of BarnabyFive, an inventive jazz fusion band who have honed their craft mainly on the streets of Southern England, as well as touring Europe and selling over 2000 copies of their debut album.

At Trinity College of Music in London, Nathaniel has studied with top British guitarists Mike Outram and Dave Cliff, and has performed with UK jazz musicians such as Ian Ballamy and Jason Yard and at venues such as Ronnie Scotts, the Vortex ,the Vibe Bar, Blackheath Halls, Bournemouth International Centre along with international jazz festivals including Coutances (France) and Cheltenham Jazz Festival.
