About / Biography

The High Flyers are a no-nonsense funk and soul band who have been lighting up dance floors around the UK and Europe since 2008. Unlike most bands whose members come and go, The High Flyers have managed to retain their core band of top session players for 5 years, notching up over 150 corporate, charity and wedding gigs in the process. This spells one word. Tight. It also means that they simply KNOW what makes a dancefloor jump. And they do it with the greatest of pleasure.

Alongside the core band, there is a bolt-on 2/3 piece horn section who are one of the most sought after in the business. They and a selection of other choice musicians form the High Flyers collective, capable of putting out another band for events. Collectively their gigging experience is awesome. Playing for artists such as Mumford and Sons, Jess Glynne, Lily Allen, Rudimental, Plan B, Robin Thicke, First Aid Kit, David Gilmour, Jessie J, Beverly Knight, Steve Cropper, Seal, Speech Debelle, Sheryl Crow, Gloria Gaynor, Ghost Poet, The Macabees, Soweto Kinch and James McCartney, they have come together for one common musical purpose. To play the music they love to people that love the music.

Namely, the raw funk of James Brown, the horn-heavy punch and swing of the Stax label, the melodic magic of Motown. The set is rounded off with Rock’n’Roll favourites and a fillet of the modern era’s finest party tunes. You are invited to help tailor the extensive playlist to your taste. But there are no smooth edges here, no cheese; just funky and fine: how it is supposed to be. Sounds good on paper? Have a look at the videos and listen to the MP3s and judge for yourself.
