John Blease grew up on the west coast of Scotland and started playing percussion in youth orchestras and ceilidh bands. At the age of 17 he moved to London to take up a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music. Since then he has worked with a long list of amazing artists including Newton Faulkner, Hue and Cry, Mose Allison, Massive Attack, Tommy Smith, Royal Shakespeare Company, Jacqui Dankworth, Will Young, Gilad Atzmon, Mish-Mash, Basquiat Strings, Evelyn Glennie, Jarvis Cocker, Keith Tippett, Luke Toms, Supertramp, Reem Kelani, Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, Unkle, Gerard Presencer, Ian Shaw, Plaid, Ruarri Joseph, Julian Arguelles, The Streets, Kris Drever, Julian Velard, Tango Siempre, Joe Stilgoe, Hayley Westenra, Aidan O'Rourke, Llloyd Grossman, Jamie Cullum, Donny McCaslin, London Symphony Orchestra, David McCalmont, Bobby Davro, Lau, Jim Mullen, Georgie Fame and Martin Speake amongst many others. He has just finished recording the soundtrack for "Black Water Transit", a film to be released in late 2008 starring Lawrence Fishbourne. John will also be touring with guitarist-songwriter Newton Faulkner.
