Formed in late 2005 in South London, the HornStars feature the traditional big band line-up of five saxophones, four trombones, four trumpets; a rhythm section of piano, drums, bass and guitar, plus female/male vocalists.

The band plays gigs throughout London and the home counties, notably at the 100 Club’s popular Stompin’ night, famous jazz venue the Bull’s Head in Barnes and burlesque nightspot the Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club in the East End. The HornStars also play dance balls for Jive Party at the beautiful Rivoli Ballroom, Ginger Jive in Berkshire and Jive.com in Hertfordshire, as well as charity balls, weddings, the Art Car Boot Fair and the Southbank Centre. Other venues played include Camden Roundhouse, Tower of London, London Guildhall, Glaziers Hall and Wilton’s Music Hall.

The band covers a wide range of music from swing classics through to Latin, jazz, funk and pop styles. For a wedding, 1940s dance night, Christmas party, celebration or corporate event, the HornStars are happy to tailor their set list to suit your requirements. Whatever the occasion, the HornStars guarantee good music and a great atmosphere.

King Groovy and the Horn Stars has an extensive repertoire of big band charts by the jazz greats, from Duke Ellington to Glen Miller to Herbie Hancock, plus Latin, pop and funk favourites. The band guarantee swinging tunes and danceable grooves.
