Lambeth Swing is comprised of some the best jazz musicians in the South West of England. Vocalist and trumpet player James has been singing professionally for more than 25 years. Originally from Oklahoma City, James moved to the UK in 2001 where he immediately joined a ska punk band out of Bristol. A few years later, after completing a Music and Drama degree at Bath Spa University, he formed the 45th Street Swing with bassist Joe Spibey, and formed his own band, The Lambeth Swing, 5 years ago.
The members of Lambeth’s band line ups have decades of experience between them. The Lambeth Swing’s line up includes: Murph (guitar), Duncan (double bass), Rob (drums), Jon (guitar), Jeff (saxophone), Dan (trumpet) and several other talented musicians. Lambeth’s influences range from Morrissey to Sinatra and he has firmly established himself as Bath’s top male jazz vocalist.
James is making his Edinburgh Fringe Festival debut this year at the Jazz Bar with a show based on the music of Duke Ellington. The band plays its own versions of the Great American Songbook, featuring songs by Mercer, Cole Porter, Gershwin, Jack Teagarden and Duke Ellington. They’ve even been known to do swinging versions of a few Smiths songs! Lambeth Swing is a fantastically versatile and elegant band for any occasion.
The band is available is 4 different line-ups for different sized events (3-Piece, 4-Piece, 5-Piece or 6-Piece).
