Nicholas Shaikh is a talented musician with a wide spectrum of skills. He is a skilled pianist, guitarist and singer, and has been playing and writing music throughout his whole life. Not limited to any one genre, Nicholas has worked in film music, musical theatre, indie/alternative music and function/wedding groups.
Nicholas has a Masters degree in Music, the 2010 Daily Echo Curtain Call award for “Best Musical Director”, and an impressive array of international credits.
Nicholas owns his own transport and equipment. He is currently based in Oxfordshire and is available for commissions anywhere in the UK, and internationally.
Bio:
Nicholas Shaikh has aspired to be a professional musician since a very young age. He began studying classical piano and guitar in his childhood, before branching out to alternative rock and jazz studies in his teenage years, and also teaching himself to sing.
After leaving school, Nicholas spent a year studying electric guitar performance at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford. During his time here, he formed the punk rock group “Laura Lost”. He spent two years with this group touring UK, recording their LP album, and was fortunate enough to play the King of the Mountain stage at Snowbombing Festival 2006.
After completing his course at ACM, Nicholas then spent three years earning a BA (Music) at Southampton University. During this time, his musical endeavours branched out into musical theatre. What began as a casual hobby soon became an all-consuming passion as Nicholas became Musical Director for Southampton University Showstoppers Society.
Not content with just classical music, rock and musical theatre, in 2009 Nicholas decided to branch out into film music, earning a Masters Degree in Composing for Film and Television at Kingston University. During this time he worked part time as a Musical Director for several theatrical societies in London.
After graduating from Kingston University with a commendation in 2010, Nicholas went to work as Resident Musician in Sensatori Egypt 2011 for TED Talent.
Now armed with skills in performance, musical direction, composition and production, Nicholas has decided to be his own boss is now working as a self-employed musician.
