The Oxford Jazz 3/4 is a combo led by saxophonist Ewen Baird. We play mostly material from the standard (jazz) repertoire ranging in style from, for example, 'Fly Me To the Moon' through to more funky/contemporary material such as Watermelon Man. Ewen has performed with musicians such as Steve Waterman, Jim Mullen, Eddie Severn and Mal Waldron whilst the other members of the band are also all experienced professional musicians.

The playing on Ewen's recent CD was described by Andy Hamilton in Jazz Journal as "...warm breathy tone and reflective creation of cunning improvised lines." The Oxford mail has described his sound as "warmly redolent of the 1950's".

The trio format is ideal for background music at corporate functions and wedding receptions or parties. If more lively sounds are required as the evening progresses, then a drummer can be added to form a quartet which can be either discreet or more in the foreground.
