About / Biography

The Rib Ticklers are a modern Irish Party Band that will turn any event into an exciting and memorable Party. They play a wild and intoxicating mix of the most popular Pop, Rock and Irish songs which will have your guests up on their feet dancing like there’s no tomorrow!

The Band is fronted by John, a charismatic and engaging performer and lead singer whose voice is both crystalline enough to tackle any girl band ballad yet gritty enough to blast through a classic rock song. John, a highly talented multi-instrumentalist, plays Electric Guitar, Banjo, Keyboards and is a former champion Accordion player. In the Rib Ticklers he leads a band of equally gifted musicians.

Line-ups are : 3 piece : Drummer and bassist plus John on Guitar/keys/accordion.

Quartet: Drummer, Bassist, Electric Guitar and myself (keys, guitar, accordion)

Quintet: add a fiddle player. Fiddle only available with the 5 piece band

Originally from the West of Ireland but these days based in the Nottinghamshire, John learnt his trade playing in his Dad’s band more than 20 years ago and played his first wedding reception at the age of 10. His career has brought him to many unique events from numerous appearances on National TV and Radio, some from the age of 13, to touring extensively across the US, Canada, Europe & Middle East, songwriting and recording both his own songs and those with other Artists to playing in a packed Royal Albert Hall, performing for Global Celebrities to representing Ireland in the Opening Ceremony of the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup in Jamaica, in which the bands performance was broadcast live to an estimated global audience of 2.2 billion people.

That professionalism and experience can be felt not only with their exceptional live performances, which are specifically tailored to every audience and event, but also through the pre-planning and booking of an event to the management on the day of arrival, set-up, soundchecking and working in a coordinated and professional manner with your other suppliers to the end goal of making your event an outstanding success. The Band have honed their abilities and utilise a well-developed sixth sense of reading an audience which is gained from years of experience in Corporate Events, Weddings and Public Appearances, creating an atmosphere that is exhilarating and infectious. This sense of reading an audience requires a good degree of flexibility from the band.

The Rib Ticklers believe a party is an event in which there are no sideline spectators, everyone is in this one moment in time together and that moment will be ingrained in ones memory forever. Give your event the wow factor with the Rib Ticklers.

PLEASE NOTE : This band is not a ceilidh band, they do not offer a caller or ceilidh dancing.
