Based in London, Soulshine is one of the UK's leading funk soul bands, having performed at hundreds of weddings and corporate events around the UK and also in Europe.
Offering varied line ups to suit all budgets, from 5 - 10 piece band!
Expect to hear your favourite Funk, Soul, Motown and Disco classics by Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Chic, Earth Wind & Fire, Chaka Khan, Prince and Michael Jackson. Not only that, but Soulshine Band bring you right up to date with more recent hits inspired by these old school legends, with Beyonce, Bruno Mars and Pharell Williams and many more..! For those of you looking for something super cool and off the charts, Soulshine Band also perform a number of rare groove, funk, and acid jazz tracks which will keep even the most discerning listener happy!
All of this is presented to you in the unique Soulshine style with glitz, glam, flair and energy - for a spectacular night that you and your guests will never forget!
The Soulshine Band has performed at many renowned venues in London and beyond - including Blenheim Palace, Emirates Stadium, Madame Tussauds, The London Science Museum, Bush Hall, The Savoy, The Ritz, The Hilton, as well as 100's of smaller wedding venues across the country.
The smallest line up is the 5pc consisting of female vocal, guitar, bass, drums and keyboards - this is the perfect line up for smaller venues and events which are not able to host our bigger line ups. Our female vocals are some of the best London in the business, and know exactly how to get your guests off their seats and onto the dancefloor!
To truly experience what the band can offer though, we recommend a minimum of the 7pc band which is the same as the 5pc plus male vocal and saxophone. Our male vocalist oozes soul and your guests are sure to love him! Having a male and female duo front the band creates a wonderful dynamic on stage, and as a team they are able to work the crowd much better. Our saxophone player is one of the best in the business, and when it's time for him to shine be prepared to see your guests jaws drop as plays the most captivating melodies. If you're lucky he may even leave the stage and join you and your guests in the middle of the dancedloor!
If funk is your thing we highly recommend adding a trumpet. There is nothing quite like the sound of a full brass section for that fat, funk sound. and having 2 horns working in combination allows the band to play more of the brass heavy songs such as "Move On Up" by Curtis Mayfield.
For a more tropical edge, why not add some percussion? Bongos and congas are a staple of disco and house music, but percussion is rarely seen on stage these days. So having a live bongo/ conga player is sure to please your guests, and this gives the band a more authentic disco sound and flavour.
For those looking for the ultimate line up, the band can complete their line up with an additional female vocalist. Having 3 vocalists allows the band to create luscious vocal harmonies, aswell as perform choreography on stage and really work the dancefloor!
Included within the price is a professional sound system suitable for upto 200 people, plus stage lighting and dancefloor lighting. The Soul Rebels can also cater for much larger events - prices available on request.
The band can provide party music or background music via laptop or mp3 to play during sets, or if you would prefer to create your own playlist the band can provide a connection for you to connect to their sound system.
The band also boasts a range of optional extras such as wireless microphone for speeches, CD decks & turntables if you are hiring a DJ, starcloth backdrop and coloured uplighting around the room - all at preferential rates for customers who book The Soulshine Band.
Whether you are looking for the ultimate Funk, Soul wedding band or entertainment for your private party or corporate event, you are guaranteed a spectacular performance that you and your guests will never forget!
Testimonials
Dan Whaley, wedding
I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you for your excellent sets at my niece's wedding at Crabbs Barn last night. I really don't think I've ever seen a wedding band such as yourselves where every single thing was so absolutely spot on; the astounding musicianship of the band, the phenomenal vocals and amazing stage presence of the singer, the variety of the repertoire, the tightness of the performance, the well balanced sound, the engagement with the punters, the overall presentation, I could go on...
Clare and Andrew had a fantastic wedding day, and it was so beautifully concluded with your 3 sets. They, and indeed the rest of the family and guests, were still raving about you today, and will doubtless continue to do so for a while yet.
I very much hope to see you again, and will certainly recommend you to anyone who is on the lookout for a wedding band.
Thanks again.

Sonia, staff Christmas party, Dulwich College
Dear James
Just wanted to drop you a note to say the HUGEST thank you for everything you did to support our staff party on Friday with all the lighting and for embracing the Strictly theme with the fantastic glitterball! The Soulshine Band were simply fabulous and the song choice was spot on, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the dance floor so completely rammed from beginning to end before. Not sure how you managed to do that but we cannot thank you enough. We were very grateful for all you did to ensure it was such a success. We cannot wait to have you back at the College again soon and will continue to pass on the band details with gusto!
Wishing you a merry Christmas and hope that the new year brings the happiness you deserve.
Best wishes and thanks again from us all,
Sonia
Simon and Kerry,
I wanted to write and express our thanks and gratitude for the your performance at our wedding on 9th March. When we started looking for a band to perform at our wedding we looked at so many different websites and pages, listened to so many audio clip…but we kept being drawn back to Soulshine Band. I’m so glad we were as we could not have wished for anything better, you literally exceeded our expectations in every area possible.
When we saw you all turn up we knew we’d made the right choice as you looked stunning, but then a little later Kerry and I were outside with the photographer and we could hear you sound checking – the photographer turned round and said that he could see/hear where we’d invested in the wedding! He hears a lot of bands, as you can imagine, and from that one sound check he said that he could tell you were worth the money we’d spent!
Thank you so much for being as accommodating as you were with the set up arrangements. The talent that you all possess as musicians/vocalists is incredible. I’m sure you know when you’ve ‘got’ the room at any performance, but I can’t remember seeing a point when the dancefloor was less than full. That has to be the ultimate accolade. The same also goes for the DJ as he more than kept things ticking over and the crowd hot whilst you were on a break and then finished the night off perfectly – I don’t think he wanted to stop!
I honestly cannot thank you enough James, and ask that you pass our thanks on to the other band members. I don’t think I was able to get to you on the night to say thank you, and for that I apologise, but I am genuinely speechless as to what a good night we had. It was the perfect celebration of our day – thank you.
Teresa & Matt, Wedding, Kent
We just wanted to say how much we appreciated all your hard work to make the music at our wedding so fantastic, and the dance floor one of the best we've ever seen with all of our friends and family! In our guest book, on advice cards and in person, so many people have commented on how much they loved Soulshine and the great atmosphere you created. You played all the songs we wished for and we were so impressed by the talents of all the musicians in the band and how they engaged with all of our guests. We didn't want the music to end (you may have guessed by our a cappella attempts at Don't Stop Me Now at the end of the night!)
Please pass on a big thank you to the rest of the band. We will highly recommend you and Soulshine to friends and family in the future.
Thank you so much.
Teresa and Matt
